2 months ago, I won Mamz 's birthday giveaway . More specifically, I won a customized artificial penis from VIVA AWA signed  Uberrime . Nothing new so far, I was used to it, with Godemiche . I just had to pick the colors I liked and hope the mix was drinkable, dazzling at best (spoiler: it was). Only, I also had to choose the density of said artificial penis and there, my heart skipped a beat.

How to make artificial penis at home? What is density?

It turns out that I had never wondered about the density of the artificial penis I owned before. Density is simply firmness. If they are rather hard or soft, what.In the case of the personalized artificial penis that I had won, fortunately for me, the choice was limited since I was offered “only” 3 different densities: 0050, 5A or 10A. Don't worry, I had no idea what it was referring to either. Like, none. Completely dropped.

But my nerdy side didn't take very long to get excited: great, a new thing to learn! After having a lot of potash, I decide to take the 10A density. Internet seemed to agree on the fact that it is rather flexible and that I should find my account there. And indeed, I could bend my new toy on itself.

Artificial Penis

How to use artificial penis? With these colors, I think it looks like a snake!

It didn't take much for my handyman friend (let's call it that) to get hold of a durometer, a small device for measuring the density of a piece of silicone . As soon as I had the opportunity to borrow it from him, I felt like I was in first grade class when I learned what a double decimetre was, and I measured everything I could!

How to make artificial penis? Why silicon?

If I constantly talk about silicone, it's not because I'm a fetishist (although you might wonder). If you are regular on my blog, you already know that silicone is the only healthy material for the body in terms of sex toys from which we can hope for a little flexibility. Indeed, even if glass, metal or even ABS plastic are also healthy, they are however rigid. Everyone has their own tastes, but if it's something flexible that appeals to you, or at least something that's not 100% rock hard, silicone is for you.

It is not difficult to find silicone sex toys on the adult market. Only, I learned it the hard way, many silicones are different : some stick, some are soft and smooth. Then, to return to the subject, some are more or less hard ! Unfortunately, this is a feature that is rarely indicated on e-commerce sites. Far be it from me to blame online stores for this, I think brands don't provide this property in their sales pitch anyway.

How to know the firmness of a artificial penis without touching it, then?

If the density of a silicone toy is not communicated in the traditional market, it is the case in the business of the handmade artificial penis, where there is not a whole industrial process and a communication department that go through it before to arrive at the final product in our pussies or our behinds.Unfortunately, dildesque craftsmanship is still very American (you probably know Bad Dragon, based in Arizona), so we end up paying more shipping than anything else to get everything across the Atlantic. Apart from Godemiche , which is a British initiative, I don't think I know of any small businesses that offer homemade sex toys in Europe. One day, I hope ! (EDIT: in France there is Petit Vice !) ((EDIT 2022: and now there are many others, what a time to be alive ))

If you can ask the brand directly , do so. Otherwise, ask people who have the toy you're aiming for, or read reviews  !

And how is it measured, the hardness of a artificial penis?

Having already got down to measuring the diameters of my plugs using a caliper, it was only a matter of time before playing with a durometer. It's a tool with a spade: just stick it in the silicone to find out its density. The deeper the spike sinks, the stiffer the silicone. These figures are all well and good, but where on a table is it placed? We use a ladder (not the one with rungs, concentrate). On the diagram below, we can also see that this is a measure that is far from only concerning sex toys! For artificial penis, we will only be interested in scale 00 (Shore 00) and scale A (Shore A). Especially the A scale, in fact. I took the liberty of redoing this same table adapted for dildos a little later in this article, if I ever tickled your curiosity a little.

Artificial Penis

But a artificial penis is better hard or soft, right?

I talk a lot about numbers, measurements and scales, but in the end, a artificial penis, is it better flexible or rigid? Unfortunately, I don't have a ready-made answer, it 's a matter of taste. I would say that for starters, something too hard is not ideal, it may not adapt to the shape of your vagina or your rectum (but maybe it's a feeling what are you looking for?). Anything too soft will potentially be unwieldy.

Don't hesitate to trust your intuition: it's not because you've never used artificial penis, or very little, that you don't know yourself. I think it's also a question of desire, of desire. As we could want strawberries, chocolate, or both (I want fondue there for example).

I wish I had a miracle formula that would work for everyone, but sadly it doesn't. In the end, the best thing is to try. Often, brands use the same silicones for their different models. That's why I think my little diagram above can help you get an idea.

Double density, because a single density wasn't complicated enough already

Now that I've got you pretty confused about single density, let me introduce you to it: double density! More and more brands are launching their dual density model, simply because it is something that is becoming increasingly popular.

But what is double density, apart from a complicated term for nothing? This means there are multiple layers to the toy. Two, in this case (“double”). The exterior is made of a very soft silicone, but the interior of a harder silicone. This allows the artificial penis to remain manageable and hit the right place while matching the shape of the orifice in which it is located. On the left, my thumb digs into the Uncut #1 , while on the right, the Lovehoney is too hard for that. For example, the Tantus Uncut #1, shown above, has an outer layer of 5A, while the inside is more like 40A. There may even be specific parts chosen to be more rigid, especially in the case of realistic dildos (to stick more closely to the "reality" of a penis, therefore).
